better late than never

I meant to post this last week after we had Jack's 2nd (!) birthday party! Oh it was so fun!

I made a simple scrappy bunting.

And puppy cupcakes from Hello Cupcake! (thanks Holli for turning me onto this book!)Unfortunately, the first thing he ate off his cupcake was the licorice jellybean nose...which he promptly spit out.Mama-made gift: On-The-Go Car Playmat. This was so fun to make and personalize! My favorite is the park.

Knitting content soon!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Contest Winner!

And the winner of my birthday contest is Jen! Jen, I've sent you an email.
Thanks everyone for voting for their favorite banner! I was actually surprised by the results.

7 votes for my current banner
12 votes for possible banner #1
5 votes for possible banner #3

The winner is definitely banner #1: I really loved all the banners I made. However, I was surprised at how many still loved my current banner the most. My shop has been open almost exactly 1 year! And now I feel like I have a much clearer vision for the style of quilts that I make. It's a tough decision and I'm not even 100% certain I even should change my shop banner. The one thing that is making me want to change my banner is that I want my shop to be clearly different from all the other quilt shops on Etsy. So I think I'll go ahead and change it and see how I feel about after a month or two.
I really, really appreciate your input!
Have a happy Wednesday!

It was a GREAT weekend for other reasons too! Hubby made breakfast for me, I got to sew uninterrupted, and got to have dinner with the whole family at one of my favorite restaurants!

I would say a 30th birthday calls for some celebration and a contest, don't you? I certainly don't feel thirty. There are so many things in my life I am grateful for right now, I feel really blessed!

THE PRIZE
I've been hoarding these gorgeous skeins of Louet Gems Pearl in Crabapple. It's a really happy pink but not too bright. These will make a gorgeous scarf, shawlette or pair of socks!

Okay, it's simple. I need your opinions! I'm thinking about changing my banner for my Etsy shop and I want to know which one you like best.

fall may begin now....

I wasted no time in getting my new skein of Madelinetosh DK onto the needles. I went for a simple infinity scarf to show off the gorgeous colors.

Pattern: my own; I think I cast-on 170 stitches, joined to knit in the round, knit 5 rows of seed stitch, about 4 or 5 inches of stockinette stitch, then 5 more rows of seed stitch.

Yarn: MadelineTosh DK in Oxblood; about 2/3 of a skein.

Needles: US 8s I think. I wanted a loose gauge and a drapey fabric.

Notes: I thought with knitting at such a loose gauge and a good blocking that I wouldn't have to worry about rolling but apparently I was wrong. The edges still want to roll! Maybe I'll try a light iron or just not worry about it.

I love this scarf so much! It is so soft and the colors are amazing!
