satisfaction

Yesterday I felt the need to make something quick and easy. Instant gratification. The Open Wide Zipper Pouch from Anna at Noodlehead was just the ticket!

This is the medium size. I used fusible fleece for the interfacing and it works great to make a sturdy, padded bag.

Recently, I had bought a sampling of Essex Linens to try out. I used a half yard in the natural color in my disappearing nine-patch quilt and here it is in the yarn-dyed black color for my pouch. My question is, to all you linen users, do you prewash or not? I prewashed for the quilt but did not for the pouch. I'm normally NOT a fan of prewashing (all those wrinkles!) but I felt it needed it for use in the quilt.

And who doesn't love art by a 3 (almost 4!) year old?

Jack was drawing rain and a storm cloud and by the time I got my camera it had morphed into rain coming out of the top of the cloud with "red hot" clouds above. What an imagination!

great bag!

i prewashed essex when i used it in a quilt and it did shrink quite a bit, so it's probably a good idea.

if i were using it for home dec items or bags, i probably wouldn't. i'm pretty lazy. i love the yarn-dyed essex. i should really get some. it always seems like the black is hard to find though.

I love the bag! I prewash very little because. Love those wrinkles too;) I would love to hear what you think if you wash this in the future.

I have been thinking of trying to whip up a similar pouch too! This makes me want to do it even more!

When I've worked with linen, I've always washed it, because it does tend to shrink. however, I use starch when I iron it, to help it flatten out again.

I prewashed some essex linen for a baby kimono I am about to make, but did not for a top I made for myself. It held - shrank a little bit but not too much. But I hate ironing it!
