The Diagnosis: SSS

Looks like we have a case of Second Sock Syndrom:

On the left, Monkey socks in Yarn Pirate merino/tencel; on the right, plain stockinette stitch socks in Fleece Artist merino. I just finished the Monkey sock last weekend and wore it around the house all evening and I noticed my foot starting to feel really warm. When I took it off, my foot was all red, puffy, and itchy. I think I might have gotten heat rash or something (except it didn't look like a rash). I don't think I am allergic to the tencel because I never noticed anything with my hands when I was knitting it. And I'm wondering if it might also have something to do with this sock being a bit too tight. I think I'll wash and block it to see if it loosens up a bit.

And (big surprise!) here is my swatch for some knee highs that I want to start today:This is some Sunshine Yarns merino sock in Fiesta. I just totally fell in love with the fun colors! I'm going to have a 6 stitch cable bordered by a purl stitch on either side running all the way down the back of the socks.

Boy, I don't know about y'all but I have been BUSY lately. Work, life, and all that. I'm looking foreward to just chilling out today.

Thanks for your words of support for my swing jacket nightmare! Those socks in Fiesta look fab! I love the colours too. I still haven't knitted any socks, that yarn could change that!

I love all the socks! Wonder what's causing the itching, though? Weird. And that Fiesta yarn is so great--I can't wait to see the socks that come from it! :)

I love both socks, and now more than ever I want to start a pair of Monkey socks, but must finish WIP!

Excellent idea :) and great sock yarn, (for the knee highs) very springy!

The socks are cute. I am sorry about your reaction to the Monkey socks! Hopefully it was a one time thing because they are awfully cute! I really love the Sunshine Yarns. I am going to have to get my hands on some of that!

You do have a case of Startitis too!

Your socks are absolutely beautiful, all of them! I *so* hear you about SSS - but I know you'll recover from it soon!
