241 Tote

Wow, thanks for all the kind comments on my plus quilt!

I did some fun sewing a week and a half ago and made this little 241 Tote for myself. 241 Tote
A while back I had bought a half yard of the Viewfinders fabric specifically to make a tote. It took a while to decide on coordinating fabrics to go with it though. I'm telling you I agonized over this for forever! I finally picked the brown Alexander Heath, the Aunt Edna Houndstooth and the pink Modern Meadow Honeycomb.

This was really a simple and quick project, especially since I didn't add the zippers or sew a handle. I just used some square purse rings and a brown twill type strap (sorry, don't know what's it's called).

I love the magnetic snap to keep it closed!

Spring 2012 Blogger's Quilt Festival

I missed the last blogger's quilt festival but I've been ready and waiting for it this go round! There are already a ton of amazing and inspiring quilts linked up over at Amy's Creative Side

Amy's Creative Side

I'm entering my Happy Camper Wonky Cross Quilt.
Happy Camper Wonky Cross Quilt
This quilt is my favorite! When I'm snuggled up in it I just can't stop looking at all the different, interesting fabrics. It all started with the Birch Circa 60 camper fabric I had been hoarding. I LOVE modern whimsical fabrics, I think they bring out the kid in me.

I know I've told this story before but I wanted to share it again because I think it's pretty amusing. I first envisioned making this a more masculine quilt thinking of my husband and how it would be nice for him to have a quilt that wasn't girly. When I finished the top I asked him what he thought and if he liked it. He said, It's nice but the colors aren't very bright. Me: Huh? He said, I really like the other one you made. Me: This one? Him: Yes, that one's my favorite. Okay then, this quilt is all mine, I'm really happy about it too! LOL!

These little campers sure do make me happy!

Washi Tape Quilt

When I first saw this Washi Tape fabric I could NOT resist even though I wasn't really sure what washi tape even was. The internet has since explained the in's and out's to me and I have some washi tape of my own on it's way to me in the mail. :)

I only bought a yard and debated for quite a while what the best use for it would be. It's one of those prints that deserves to be shown off. I'm not sure how successful I was at that but I ended up choosing a block from the Batch of Brownies pattern in The Practical Guide to Patchwork book.

If you want to see something in the works using the whole Washi collection then check out Marta's spiderweb block! That quilt is going to be amazing!

I did a wide sashing in Kona Snow.

Honestly, I was feeling a little ho-hum about this quilt until I added the aqua binding. I was undecided on what to use for the binding and at first I almost went with a white binding but I'm glad I didn't.

The backing is a polka dot that I scored for like $4.50 a yard that coordinates perfectly with the rest of the quilt! Love when that happens!

stinkin' CUTE!

My goodness, I am behind on blogging! I've been fairly productive lately and I'm starting to hit one of those times where all the WIPs get finished around the same time.

This isn't anything finished but I just had to share a little fabric cuteness I got in the mail today from Fabricworm. Are these not the most adorable prints ever?! It's Ed Emberley for Cloud 9. I seriously wish I could afford to get all the prints in this collection!

And I've had my eye on these prints (Next Stop from Birch) and have been waiting for them to be released for months now. The one on the left is actually from a collection called Crabtastic and was a total impulse buy.

I whipped this block up today for my do Good. Stitches circle. It's a 25 Patch Star that was requested to be scrappy in rainbow colors. I love how it came out! I still need to make another one in solids but it was actually a lot simpler than it looks to put together.

long term project

I'm still plugging away very slowly on my Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt. Even though the blocks are pretty time consuming, I really enjoy working on a block here and there when I need something small to focus on between the big projects.
Here are the most recent blocks I've made:

16 blocks complete
So these are the 16 blocks that I've completed so far! These 6" blocks look so much smaller in person. I've got a long way to go. I'm going "scrappy" with my color scheme but you can definitely tell which colors I'm drawn to (hello orange!).
